Baguette Express , Portobello

G-MAK has worked closely with the Baguette Express franchise for many years and we were contacted by the owner, Billy, in May 2022.

The aim was to start a relaunch of the Baguette Express brand and franchisee opportunities with a new shop, builidng on the success of their vibrant existing outlets and adding a fresh new twist. A suitable premises was found (an old hairdressers), so would G-MAK be willing to refit it from top-to-bottom into this new Bagutte Express venture….with just 2 weeks on site to complete the task?

What we did

In August we were given the keys to the shop so our team got stuck straight in and carried out supply & installation of the following:

  • Preliminary strip-out of all old furniture, flooring, wall-claddings, sinks and removal of all the old external signage
  • Replacement flooring, grid ceiling and wall boards

  • Bespoke fabrication:
    – front-shop poseur bar
    – back-wall prep with storage cupboards, hand-wash and bespoke fabricated extraction system to the front shop
    – wash-up sinks, storage racking and prep tabling to the back shop

  • Eurocryor COMFORT MIDI straight glass serveover counter with shopfitted side-worktop
  • Ancillary refrigeration including wall multideck, chest freezer, worktop chiller and under-counter fridge
  • All catering equipment including oven, panini grill, potato oven and soup kettle
  • New external signage and decoration to the shop front plus all internal wall graphics and sign boards including special branding for the counter frontage
  • New plumbing and electrical socketing

Benefits and results

The shop has been an instant success – proven by the sustained level of customers pouring in throughout the day.

This successful new format will hopefully become the template for more proposed new Baguette Express shops.
