David Comrie & Son

This established butchers shop has origins dating back to 1830 and currently run by 7th generation butcher, Murray Lauchlan.

A shop refit had been under consideration for for several years and Murray contacted G-MAK to help finallly get things underway.

What we did

We set a challenging timescale of 1 week to carry out the full shop refit works so after stripping-out all old equipment & fixtures back to a bare shell our team installed the following:

  • The new bespoke Eurocryor straight-glass fresh meat & cooked meat serveover counter
  • A meat dry-aging cabinet that provides another focal point behind the counter

  • All shop-fitting including wall boards, grid ceiling and electrical works

  • Specialised food display lighting

Eurocryor KITE B bespoke straight glass serveover counter

A bespoke Eurocryor model KITE B serveover counter with straight glass is the stunning centrepiece of the shop, offering a contemporary yet classic look that provides a perfect showcase for the array of fresh meat and artisan pies.

Benefits and results

A glowing testimonial from Murray himself speaks volumes for what we achieved for his shop:

“The project was professionally presented to me by Gary and included a number of factors I had not considered, his experience and
thought process helped me envisage how the shop would look after completion, in fact it was better than I expected.

Being a butcher for the whole of my life and being the seven generation I had firm practical demands, but this experience has taught me believe in those who specialise in shop design as much as my customers trust me as a craftsman in my chosen trade. Gary provided the design, the specifications the know how and it was completed by his friendly hard working team on time and on budget.

I spent many days visiting other butcher’s shops for ideas, I will be delighted to allow others to see the results.”
